Welcome to the Online Home of the Drill Junkies

There is more than one way to teach a specific skill, play, concept or system in hockey and if you are like me, I like to introduce new drills into my practices to keep the players interested and thinking.

Every coach has their "go to" drills in a run of a season but one thing I found through my playing days was that coaches that kept players engaged and thinking with new drills were coaches that developed and improved a players overall skill and knowledge of the game.  There was nothing worse as a player than coming to the rink and knowing exactly what drills your going to do on any given day because your coach only had 3 to 5 practices he would run all year.

I consider myself a bit of a "drill junkie" whereas I am always looking for new drills to add into my drill draw software to use for my own team at a later date.  I've written drills on napkins that I watched an atom coach run when I was leaving the rink because I thought it was a useful drill.  I scour the internet on a weekly basis looking for new drills so if you put a drill on the web there is a good chance you might find it here.

With that in mind, the Drill Junkies website was born.  I thought it would be a great spot for coaches of all levels to find drills they can use in their practices and ultimately I hope it will grow into a site where coaches will share a drill or two they enjoy to add to our site, so others can use in their practice plans. Coaches helping Coaches.  Take a drill, use it, change it to taylor your needs.  Do as you wish.  Some of these drills I have used in my practices and some of them I have yet to use.

Please bare with me while I get things up and running.  It takes time to transfer my drill bank to this site and I have about 1/3 of  my drill collection up on this site.

If you have a drill you would like to submit simply send me an email at:  tim@drilljunkies.ca

In the email include:

1. The drill attached as a pdf, image or a drill draw file.
2. Your name
3. Where you coach (optional)
4. If you would like credit for the drill on our site. (some wish to remain annonymous)

Hope you enjoy the site and find it useful.  If you have any suggestions please forward along.
